It would appear that WordPress has increased its market share to 40% of the top ten million websites on the Internet, according to Alexa, who is a website traffic analysis company. An even more impressive statistic to consider is WordPress now holds over 51% market share of the top one thousand websites on the Internet.

Over 66% of new sites launched today will be WordPress websites, and current estimates show that another one of the top ten million ranked websites will start using WordPress every two minutes. These statistics come from W3Techs, a leading web technology survey company. W3Techs states that WordPress accounts for 64.5% of all the websites whose content management system (CMS) they know.

It comes as no surprise that there are currently over seventeen thousand projects listed on the freelance IT job site Upwork worldwide, with approximately two thousand of these projects being in the USA. The consistent growth and stability of WordPress’s market share present endless opportunities for developers and freelancers.
